Social Media/Content Strategy Student Intern

AECOM has an excellent opportunity for a Social Media/Content Strategy Student Intern supporting our Germantown, MD office for the summer 2019 season. The Social Media/Content Strategy Intern will be responsible for collaborating with the content and social media team in developing and implementing marketing concepts for brand campaigns across various sectors. The intern will have a strong working knowledge of major social media platforms, both personally and professionally, as well as working knowledge of video content development and social media analytics. The intern will assist in developing and implementing effective comprehensive communications and advertisement strategies, plans and/or materials for one or more of the business segments in business development, recruitment and company branding.

The intern must have demonstrated ability to write in a variety of formats, including social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+, and YouTube. The successful candidate will play an active role in creating briefings, brochures, video content, internal communications and newsletters. The intern must have a basic understanding of graphic design/layout principles and production; demonstrated competence in at least one of the following areas: media, advertising, employee communications, financial communications, and project management and perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements
  • Candidates must be a US citizen for this summer internship position.
  • Currently in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field.
  • A university student with no more than two academic years remaining before earning a degree. These students are typically rising juniors or rising seniors.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, exceptional word-processing, and experience with database and spreadsheet programs and integrated software applications is required.
  • Experience creating media advertising campaigns using Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Wordpress, Weebly, and Microsoft products.
  • Experience using social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous development of executive speeches and speech outlines.
  • Experience with creative social media advertising to increase awareness of company’s products, branding, and services.
  • Support development of communication plans.
  • Experience with cost estimating and budgeting for a variety of projects.
