Analyst (General Counsel's Office)

Job Description:
This role reports to the General Counsel’s office, which provides ethics and risk management functions of a global law firm. The successful candidate will work in a small, global team alongside case teams and various other departments.
 
Supervisor:
The Professional Responsibility & Risk Management Analyst will report to the Assistant General Counsel.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
The desired candidate will spend most of their time:
  • analyzing conflicts the firm may have with potential new clients and companies;
  • working on internal teams with people of different backgrounds;
  • providing feedback on the front end of internal conflicts databases;
  • conducting due diligence and external research on potential clients and funders;
  • liaising with attorneys and finance teams to write engagement letters and funding letters for clients;
  • assisting with ad hoc projects related to managing the firm’s risk profile;
  • prepare polished external correspondence for clients and other external audiences;
  • assisting the Assistant General Counsel with Foreign Agents Registration Act submissions;
  • researching sanctions programs to ensure the firm complies with relevant regulations; and
  • assisting in other work related to the firm’s acceptance of new business and management of existing client matters.

PR&RM Analysts independently handle tasks related to:
  • conflicts checking, including working in our conflicts software;
  • legal research;
  • drafting client-facing and other external communications;
  • ad hoc project management; and
  • customer due diligence assignments.

Requirements:
  • The desired candidate possesses or shows the aptitude to achieve the following attributes:
  • experience with conflicts software or other database experience; management and development of such systems is a plus;
  • ability to work on sensitive projects independently;
  • experience with legal and/or corporate research and other resources to pull & interpret company information;
  • strong writing capabilities; able to communicate and translate complex concepts into concise and clear statements;
  • accuracy, care and detail-oriented in all aspects of work;
  • team player with confidence to communicate in a fast-paced organization with professional attitude and demeanor;
  • motivated, self-starting attitude and able to get the job done independently;
  • tech-savvy, ability and desire to learn new technologies and systems integration;
  • service mindset in the context of a fast-paced global organization and desire to understand and support execution of organizational objectives; and
