Pharma Industry Career Trek (Pfizer)

The Gordon Career Center is offering a career trek, career exploration program to provide students with an insider look at career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry. The program begins on-campus with preparation to attend Pfizer's "From Student to Specialist" networking event in Groton, CT and will include transportation to and from the event.

Participate in the Pfizer Career Trek to explore your career interests in the pharmaceutical industry, learn more about career and internship opportunities at Pfizer, and make connections with industry experts. Students will have the opportunity to speak with recent hires about their journey from student to professional, including Giselle Reyes '18 who is a Senior Associate Scientist. The visit will also include a walking tour of Pfizer's campus. 
 
PROGRAM DATES & INFORMATION
October 25 - Program Preparation (on-campus; 12:15-1:15pm)
October 29 - Pfizer Campus Visit (in Groton, CT; 3:30-6:00pm)

TRANSPORTATION 
If selected for this program, the Career Center will offer transportation to and from Pfizer's campus.

REGISTRATION DETAILS
In addition to apply for this career trek, selected students are required to RSVP for Pfizer's "From Student to Specialist" event by Monday, October 7. More details to follow soon.

ELIGIBILITY
This Career Trek opportunity is open to students of all class years, majors, and career interests. You must be available for the program preparation session on 10/25 and the career trek visit date on 10/29 to participate.

You must have your resume approved on Handshake by the GCC in order to apply to (via this posting) and be considered for this program. Note that the resume review process can take several days, thus it is best to start this process early if your resume has not yet been approved. Please refer to the GCC's resume review/approval process and resume resources listed HERE. Additionally, please schedule a resume review appointment before uploading your resume to Handshake for the first time.

SELECTION
Space is limited to 14 students. If more than 14 applications are received, students who completed the application in full will be selected at the end of the application window by random lottery. If you are not selected, you will be put on a waitlist and will be notified if spots open up. 

APPLICATION & SELECTION DATES
September 2 - Application opens
September 30 - Application deadline (11:59pm)
October 2 - Students will be notified of selection/waitlist
October 7 - Selected students must confirm their participation or forfeit their slot

HOW TO APPLY
1. Click "Apply Externally" to apply with your approved resume through Handshake on this posting.
2. Once submitted, you will be taken to an external application (google form) that must be completed in order to be considered for this program. As part of the Google application form will be asked to provide a short essay response to the following question: "Tell us about your interest in the pharmaceutical/drug development industry and what you hope to gain from participating in the program. (200 word min./300 word max.)"
