PACH Healthcare Volunteer – January 2020

CARDINAL INTERNSHIP: Ecuador. A local ophthalmologist in Middletown has a special interest in Wesleyan students and wants them to participate on this special "volun-tour" trip. This is a unique opportunity for students interested in international development, indigenous people and culture, Latin America/Ecuador, and more.

The price per person is $,1550 excluding airfare, and reservations are expected to fill quickly.

Partners for Andean Community Health (PACH) invites you to travel with us and participate in
our Volun-tour trip to Andean Ecuador scheduled from January 7-14, 2020. Trip highlights
include spending time serving the local population in need; visiting indigenous communities;
experiencing native culture and cuisine; and exploring a nearby, active volcano.

PACH’s mission is to provide resources and enduring solutions, along with global partners, to improve Andean community health. PACH strives to improve access to healthcare and community services for the people of the Andes. Our innovate approach ensures effective continuums of care in high-impact program areas. We focus on healthcare accessibility and affordability for vulnerable communities in Ecuador through empowering our local partners and leveraging the expertise, motivation, and resources of international volunteers. We promote a culture of well-being, disease prevention, and cultural diversity. We are a 501c3 not for profit charitable organization.

In collaboration with our in-country clinical partner, FIBSUPAM, PACH
invites you to join an eight day volunteer experience that helps us care for Ecuadorian communities in need and offers valuable cultural and educational experience to participants.

Components of the volunteer program include the supervised assistance of patients at our local clinic and serving families in need within the indigenous community. Examples of volunteer
tasks include: assisting in administering patient eye chart exams, interacting with and supporting families during the patient intake process, assisting with facility improvement projects at the clinic
site, and providing support with neighboring schools projects. Neither Spanish fluency nor medical experience are required.
