Development/Special Events Internship

Youth America Grand Prix seeks qualified interns to assist with development and special events.

ORGANISATION DESCRIPTION:
Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), the world’s largest ballet competition based in New York City, is accepting applications for interns this spring. YAGP supports and develops world-class dancers ages 9 to 19 of all backgrounds by providing scholarship auditions and educational and performance opportunities in cities around the world.

Interns work closely with YAGP staff and leadership as part of a small, dynamic team, receiving hands-on training in artistic programming while at a growing performing arts non-profit. Interns will support the annual New York City Finals and Gala at the David. H. Koch Theatre. 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for supporting the Operations and Development Department in all areas.
  • Support Development Department-wide activities and special events in conjunction with YAGP’s annual New York Finals 
  • Assist in processing gifts and writing acknowledgement letters
  • Assist with mailings such as invitations, thank you notes, etc.
  • Manage distribution of departmental mail; update contact information for returned mail
  • Assist in designing all in-house event materials such as place cards or event signage
  • Manage lists for events and donor database (eTapestry)
  • Prospect research as assigned
  • Track RSVPs for events
  • Support operations team by researching, drafting, and implementing new organizational policies
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • College student or recent graduate (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Knowledge of and interest in ballet and the performing arts desired
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated team player
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Exceptionally attentive to detail with refined communication skills, the ability to interact with a range of personality types, and the necessary poise when interacting with high net-worth constituents.
  • Computer literacy is a must, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Photoshop and Tapestry highly desired.

Must be able to commit to a schedule of 2-3 days a week. Academic credit can be arranged.
