Communications Internship- Fall 2020

Marathon Strategies is an independent communications, public affairs, and research firm that is looking for a results-oriented communications interns who can start remote work immediately for a paid fall internship.

The Marathon team is as diverse as the services we offer. Our team members have prior experience as reporters, lawyers, economists, television producers, campaign operatives and crisis professionals. As a result, the firm brings a unique perspective to a large portfolio of clients across real estate, telecommunications, healthcare, transportation, financial services, education, technology and other major industries.

Over the course of the internship, interns will learn the following:
·      Communication strategies to generate positive press coverage for a wide range of clients
·      Skills for writing public relations collateral, like press releases, opinion editorials, media advisories, talking points, etc.
·      How to pitch journalists and build targeted media lists
·      Social media strategies
 
Responsibilities may include:
·      Compiling press clippings daily for various clients
·      Pitching and placing stories in local, regional and national publications
·      Assisting in the managing of editorial calendars
·      Developing content for op-eds and other written materials
·      Generating content for social media campaigns
 
Qualifications:
·      Pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in appropriate field
·      Experience pitching media and building media lists 
·      Strong written and interpersonal skills
·      Digital abilities; social media experience a plus
·      Flexible and proactive in taking on assignments and responsibilities, and willingness to learn
