The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts and Cultural Center (TBT) is hiring students for year-round opportunities: spring, summer or fall, 2020. Located on Middletown's Main Street, The Buttonwood Tree has been a grassroots, center for all ages, artists and audiences ever since its opening in 1989 by a Wesleyan alumna. We strive to support the creative activities and endeavors of artists and potential artists, create a forum, context, and space for artistic, cultural, creative, and educational experience in Middletown, and serve as a center for community activity in Middletown’s North End.

TBT interns are given important responsibilities in the areas of marketing, nonprofit administration, data analysis, and videography/filming that truly make a difference for this organization. During their time at TBT, interns will learn the ins and outs of non-profit management and have opportunities to meet local and international musicians, performers, and artists. Interns will learn and grow in The Buttonwood Tree’s supportive environment and are encouraged to create their own program or project to share with the broader community.

Experience with WordPress, excel, graphic design, and/or non-profit management are preferred; a desire to learn and flexibility is required. This internship is unpaid, but academic credit is supported.

Testimonial from a past intern:
“I learned so much during my time at The Buttonwood Tree. I was challenged to learn new skills and step out of my comfort zone. From graphic design, to membership management, to customer relations, I got to experience it all. As someone looking forward to a career in non-profit work, The Buttonwood Tree was a great place to start.” - Hanna Holcomb '19, intern 2015-2017.
