Archives/Collections Management internship

Connecticut Landmarks is offering an archives/collections management internship at the Palmer-Warner House in East Haddam, Connecticut. The intern(s) will take part in preparing to open the historic house to the public. These preparations include but are not limited to assisting with the inventory, cataloging, and cleaning of historic objects and archival materials. This is an opportunity to see what goes into making a house into a historic house museum.

The Palmer-Warner house is a colonial central chimney structure built in 1738, although the period that will be the focus, the 1940s to the 1970s, is a fairly modern interpretation in relation to historic houses. This period details the life of Frederic Palmer, a prominent restoration architect in Connecticut and his partner Howard Metzger. LGBTQ interpretations for historic houses are quite rare. This property allows Connecticut Landmarks to expand the traditional areas of historic house interpretation.
