Office of Advancement - Operations Assistant

The Office of Advancement builds lifelong relationships with alumni, parents, and friends, and engages them in support of Wesleyan’s educational mission and financial goals. The Advancement team fosters pride in the Wesleyan community and develops support for university initiatives through outreach activities, including development/fundraising; alumni and parent relations; on and off-campus events. 

Reporting to the Director of Advancement Operations, this position provides support for the 291 Main building reception area, which is the welcoming hub for the Advancement and Finance departments.

Responsibilities include:
  • mail distribution, including opening, scanning and emailing some mail items
  • data entry projects
  • assisting with mailings
  • picking up and dropping off mail and other items to Student Accounts in North College and Wes Station in Usdan
  • providing receptionist coverage as needed
  • replenishing supply areas and keeping supplies inventoried

General qualifications:
• Ability to work in person at 291 Main during regular business hours Monday-Friday, following all COVID-19 protocols of the University
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Interest and willingness to learn and utilize Affinaquest database
• Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Flexibility and a good attitude a must
• Although some experience is helpful, we look primarily for those who can work as a member of a creative team, can be consistent, follow directions well and work hard

Scheduling and hours per week:
Scheduling is flexible during regular business hours. Students are expected to work 6-10 hours per week and preferably be in at least 3 days per week for 2-3 hour shifts.
