Office of Advancement – Alumni & Parent Relations Virtual Event Support Intern (16010)

Duties and responsibilities:
The Office of Alumni and Parent Relations is seeking a motivated student to work with a team of professional staff from across the Office of Advancement as the virtual event support person. Projects include back-end set up of Zoom meetings and Webinars, starting and running Zoom events and handling real-time tech/Zoom issues, assisting with downloading and sending off event recordings for closed captioning services, clean-up of Zoom event attendance lists for tracking purposes, and research virtual programming trends. Additionally, this position will provide general office support for Alumni & Parent Relations staff and programs as needed and in-person event support for Homecoming/Family Weekend (Oct 29-31, 2021). Professional development opportunities exist.
 
 
General qualifications:
  • Ability to work during regular business hours Mon-Friday, and some evenings and weekends as needed
  • Work additional hours leading up to and during Homecoming/Family Weekend.
  • Ability to host and implement virtual programming on Zoom (webinars and meetings)- if no previous experience, willingness to learn and be trained on Zoom
  • Interest and willingness to learn and utilize Affinaquest database, Linvio event management software, Cascade website management program and alumni website
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility and a good attitude is a must
  • Although some experience is helpful, we look primarily for those who can work as a member of a creative team, can be consistent, follow directions well and who aren’t afraid of hard work.
 
Evaluation procedure:
Evaluations are completed after 30 days of employment and based upon review of work performed.
 
Classification levels:
The base pay rate for the Alumni and Parent Relations Virtual Event Support Intern Level 1 is $13.00 per hour. Classification levels are based upon years employed with the Office of Advancement.
 
Scheduling and hours per week:
Scheduling is flexible. Students are expected to work 4-5 office hours per week and additional hours depending on event needs. Students must be available to work some weeknights and weekends, as well as the big weekends (Homecoming/Family Weekend, during the fall semester and possibly Reunion & Commencement Weekend, which takes place after classes and finals end).
