Behavioral Medicine Research Assistant

May - December 2019 • Buffalo, NY

What I liked

I had a first hand experience at viewing data intake for a 5 year on going research study about obesity in children. I was able to see results in different participants and run appointments with them. I was able to get a great understanding of how working in a Research Facility works.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to maybe participate in more appointments than I did.

Advice

I would say remember that when you are punching in data for a big research project that you are doing a vital task. Without you they would not be able to find results as fast as they hope to. Realize you are serving a bigger purpose then yourself.

Welcome Weekend Leader

August 2023 • Buffalo, NY

What I liked

I got to meet a lot of new students and peers. I developed a lot of close friendships with my colleagues and had a lot of fun both running and participating in welcome weekend events.

What I wish was different

I wish the shift scheduling had been done in a more organized manner. Scheduling was not based on past experience or areas of expertise. For example, my group had many shifts working an info tent on South Campus, but all of us had only lived on and had classes on North Campus.

Advice

I would recommend that anyone interested in this job apply, it's a lot of fun. To anyone who gets this job, go in with an open mind and put yourself out there, this is a chance to meet with a lot of new people and make new friends.
